We have just released a new Hints & Tips page.
It contains a few videos from the BBC's College of Production website. The website itself is also a great resource if you would like to understand more about working in TV or Radio; it contains loads of useful videos on lots of different aspects of media production so I'd recommend it for a visit.
The training course scheduled for May 9th 2012 is now fully booked. There are still places available on the course scheduled to run on June 12th.
Please email the group via the address on the Contact Us page of this workspace.
The Video Production Group are pleased to announce that we still have places available for both our May and June training courses.
The course on 9th May has limited availability whilst the course on 12th June is completely clear.
Remember, these course are completely free and with just 4 people on each course you will get a lot of hands on experience with equipment.
More details can be found on the Training Pages of this workspace.
All the Video Production Group training sessions are now fully booked for the remainder of 2011. We are currently planning the training sessions for 2012.
If you would like to know when sessions will be taking place, please email is-video-production-group@nottingham.ac.uk or keep an eye on this Workspace.
Once again the Video Group is providing support for the Summer Graduation Ceremonies. The ceremonies can be watched online at http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/graduationvideos/live.aspx. As a result the Group office will be closed from Monday 11th July and reopen on Monday 25th July.
All the scheduled training courses that the Video Group are running until June 2011 are now fully booked.
The next batch of courses will begin again late August / early September (dates still to be confirmed), as before if you would like to book a place on a course, please email is-video-production-group@nottingham.ac.uk with "Video Production Training Course" as your subject header and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible to confirm your booking.
As places on the courses are limited we will book people in on a first come first served basis.
The Video Production Unit regularly runs an introductory one day video production course at Kings Meadow Campus.
The day usually begins at around 9am in one of the TV Studios, as the morning session is split into 2; some video production theory and an introduction to the Sony A1e HDV video camera. You then have the opportunity to record a short sequence of video that you will edit after lunch.
In the afternoon the focus switches to the edit suite, where you will be given an introduction to Avid Media Composer and its basic functions. Once again, some editing theory is mixed with practical elements as you edit the video that you shot in the morning session.
The day ends with a Question and Answer session to allow you to quiz the Video Production Unit about any upcoming projects that you have, or simply ask a question about the day.
To allow you to get the most out of the day there are just 4 delegates on each course, this means that you can the most hands on time with the video camera and editing suite as possible.
The 5th course is scheduled to run on 7th June 2011. If you are interested in booking a place then please email is-video-production-group@nottingham.ac.uk with "Training Course 5" in the subject header. Due to the limited number of places on the course, if you are unsuccessful this time, the Unit will note your interest and be in touch when the next course is available.
Notice from Information Services.
The web proxy service for the campus network is reaching maximum capacity and needs to be upgraded. To do this, the web proxy will be out of service from 10am -3pm on Wednesday 2 February.
During this time, off-campus web surfing and access to on-campus web services such as the Portal and Outlook Web Access will not be affected.
There may be some impact to web surfing response times including streaming of audio or video (if demand from both the campus network and student network is high during this period).
To minimise the impact of these upgrades, users are advised to postpone any casual web surfing or video streaming on Wednesday 2 February until after the upgrade is complete.
Thank you for your assistance and apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
