This refers to Moodle 3.11 from August 2022 onwards
NOTE: You can NOT use the drag and drop method to move files between folders. It is necessary to download the content you wish to move before uploading to a new/recipient folder.
NOTE: Files can be downloaded individually, or the entire contents of a folder can be downloaded as a .zip.
- Begin by navigating to and opening the original/donor folder.
- Download individual files by clicking on the relevant filename.
- Download the entire folder contents by clicking 'Download folder'.

In both cases, either the file or the .zip will be sent to the downloads folder of the computer.
2. Navigate to the module that contains the new/recipient folder and click on the 'Turn editing on' button (pencil icon in the top-right of the module).
3. Scroll down to the new folder (or if needed, create a new folder) and in the folder click on 'Edit' then 'Edit Settings'.

4. Scroll down to the "Content" tab of the Edit page, where there is a dialog box you can use to upload files.
To add an individual file
- Drag and drop the file into the dialog box, or click 'Add Files' and use the File Picker.

2. When you have added your files click on the 'Save and return to module' button at the bottom of the page.
3. Click on the 'Turn editing off' button on your main Moodle page
You will now be able to see your uploaded folders in your folder
To add the entire folder contents from a downloaded .zip file
- Open File Explorer and find the .zip file you want to add to M, navigate to the .zip, left-click on it and select Extract then Extract All.

2. Use the next window to choose where the folder contents should be stored on your computer and click 'Extract'

3. Once extracted, the files will appear in the designated folder as a list of individual files that can be added to the new/recipient folder in the same way described above.

4 When the required files have been uploaded, click 'Save and return to module' and click on the 'Turn editing off' button on your main Moodle page.

The migrated files will now appear in the new/recipient folder.
