This is one of many help and support pages that are available about the University of Nottingham's Moodle online learning environment. If you have any questions or queries concerning Moodle then contact information is at the bottom of this one-page sheet. Please browse or use the SEARCH box below.
This refers to Moodle 3.4 from July 2018 onwards
To make a module visible to students:
- Go into your module.
- Click on the administration Cogwheel icon, and select Edit settings
- Look for the Course visibility field (third item down)
- Click on the drop down options for the Visible field
- Select Show
- Click on the Save and display button at the bottom of the page.
This setting determines whether the module appears in the list of modules for students.
When this is set to Hide, the module is invisible to all apart from staff with appropriate access rights (such as Editing Teachers).
Greyed out modules
If a module is "greyed-out" (appears in a paler colour) when an editing teacher looks at it then it is completely invisible to students.
An example of a greyed-out module in the Module Overview (on my Dashboard page) can be seen below where the module at the bottom is a paler colour that the one above it. This is greyed out to staff but will be completely invisible to students.
On the module page itself, the name in the breadcrumb trail will also be greyed out.
Chances are this is a simple case of the module being hidden from student view. The above process will make it visible.
I can't see my modules in Moodle (Staff)
