If you're using Workshop for either peer or self-assessment, or both, you will need to allocate the submitted assignments either manually or randomly. This help document will show you how to do both.
: Allocate assignments for peer and self-assessment in Workshop ADVANCED
This can be a random or manual process. The two options and how to get to them are described below.
How to navigate to the 'Allocate submissions' area
When in the Workshop (pure)
- Click on the Allocate submissions link within the Submission phase column (see below), or
- Go to the Settings block > Allocate submissions.
Manual allocation allows you to choose which students a student will peer assess and their peers. See the diagram and explanations below.
Participant is reveiwed by - the drop down list in this column shows all students on the module whether they have submitted an assignment or not. This column allows you to choose who the student noted in the Partcipant column will be assessed by. You can choose as many students as you would like to be assessed by this student.
Participant - this column shows all students on the module, the title of their assignment and whether it's been graded or that they have not submitted an assignment yet.
Participant is reviewer of - the drop-down list in this column shows all the students that have submitted an assingment. This column allows you to choose which student the student noted in the Partcipant column will assess. You can choose as many students as you would like to assess this student.
Random allocation allows you to set a number of allocations per student and then randomly allocate all assignment submissions as well as self-assessment. This is the advised method of assignment allocation, however it does not work with groups (so ensure No groups is set in the Workshop settings). See below for details on the settings available in Random allocation.
- One you have set your options for the random allocation click Save changes.
- You will then be presented with a summary of the allocations. Check this summary for any issues or errors.
